Police arrested a 28-year-old man for kidnapping and possession of ammunition on Thursday, September 20 in Lawley.
The arrest came after a woman (24) known as Miss Nomsa Mthembu was reported missing by her mother at the Protea Glen Police Station and a case of missing person was opened.
Ms Mthembu’s mother told the police that there were allegations that her daughter was murdered. The police investigation revealed that she was kidnapped by two men travelling in a white BMW.
The police searched for her and she was found dead at a mortuary in Carletonville.
Where it was alleged that she was hit by a vehicle and a culpable homicide case is under investigation by Carletonville SAPS.
The investigation also led the police to a house in Lawley where they arrested a 28-year-old suspect. The suspect was searched and he was found in possession of six 9mm live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect appeared at the Protea Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 21 on two charges of kidnapping and possession of ammunition and he was denied bail.

The police received information that the second suspect was hidden by his mother.
The mother was arrested for defeating the ends of justice and appeared in Protea Glen Magistrates court and was granted R4000 bail.
The second suspect was traced to a house in Chiawelo and the suspect was not found.
