Vezi was sentenced to 15 years for the hijacking and four years for negligent and reckless driving. Both sentences will run concurrently.
He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. Vezi hijacked a 39-year-old man who was in a stationery Chevrolet bakkie at an intersection in Crown Mines.
Vezi held up his victim with a firearm and ordered him out of his vehicle. He then assaulted the victim with a stone before driving off in his car.
While speeding away from the scene Vezi hit into a Toyota Corolla driven by a 26-year-old woman and then hit into a Toyota Quantum.

The bakkie was left beyond repairs and Vezi was taken to hospital under police guard. “A conviction is the result of diligent work done by an investigating officer.
This should send a strong message to the community that the weed of crime bears bitter fruits. We shall continue to do our best through our investigation to ensure that those who commit acts of crime are put away for a long time,” said Brixton SAPS spokesperson Captain Xoli Mbele.
