Security guard, employees arrested for murder

Police pleas for community members not to take the law into their own hands, seem to have fallen on deaf ears.

On March 19, Johannesburg Central police arrested three men between the ages of 26 and 28 for murder.

Johannesburg Central, spokesperson, Captain Xoli Mbele, “It is alleged that on March 17, at 5pm, that the victim stole something from a store at the corner of Jeppe and Ellof Street and tried to run away. A security guard and two of the store’s employees gave chase and managed to apprehend the victim who was brought back to the shop and allegedly assaulted. When the victim emerged from the shop, he collapsed. Paramedics certified him dead at the scene.  An Investigation is underway and the suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court.”

Captain Mbele added, “We are appealing to the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands regardless of the nature of the crime committed by the alleged suspect(s). If a crime is committed let the law to take its course. Let us learn to control our emotions.”
