Police have launched a manhunt for two armed men who shot and fatally wounded a 61-year-old man in Vlakfontein Extension 3, during the early hours of Friday, October 27.
“It is alleged that the victim had parked his bakkie outside one of the houses in Vlàkfontein Extension 3, and was waiting for one of his clients to come out in order to start loading some traditional herbs that they sell at the Johannesburg central business district,” said Sergeant Khalipha Mvula, spokesperson of the Lenasia South SAPS.
The victim was in the company of three other clients inside the bakkie when two unknown men suddenly emerged from the nearby houses.

“One of the suspects opened fire through the driver’s side, hitting the victim in the upper body,” added Mvula.
In a bid to flee the victim got out of the vehicle but more gunshots were fired by the unknown assailants.
The victim collapsed and fell to the ground and he was later declared dead by paramedics who attended to the crime scene.
Police are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that could assist in apprehending the suspects by contacting the Lenasia South SAPS on 010-230-1010 or by calling the Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
