IT is no secret that Lenasia has witnessed its fair share of fatal accidents. Once again, a young life was lost due to a vehicle accident.
A 25-year-old, Extension 11b Hydrabad resident tragically lost his life when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving on Bangalore Drive, over the Easter weekend.
Two others are still in hospital, both stable.
The deacead had been travelling with three of his cousins and a friend when the accident occurred.
With rumours about the accident making the rounds, one of the passengers who survived the crash set the record straight.

According to the passenger, 17- year-old Nirvana Secondary pupil who wished to remain annonymous, the driver of the vehicle lost control of the car, a Polo, after failing to negotiate a bend.
The youngsters had been returning from a ‘chill session’ in Extension 10.
“We chill every weekend together, we never thought this weekend would be any different,” the youngster said
At first they had been in Extension 2 before heading to Extension 10 where they were then involved in an argument. They then returned to Extension 2 to pick up one of the passengers before returning once more to Extension 10 to drop off one of their friends.
“My son had been texting his sister, to let her know he was returning home when the accident happened,” the passengers mother said.
Not even two minutes away from home, the driver of the vehicle failed to negotiate a bend, forcing the vehicle off the road.
“The car slid on the sand on the side of the road, he then swerved to avoid a streetlight pole, that’s when the car hit a heap of sand on the side of the road and flipped,” he said.
The sand had been from a trench that was dug for construction along the road sidewalk.
Three of the five passengers were flung from the car as a result of the impact.
“I could hear him asking for help, after he was flung,” he recalled.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were rushed to different hospitals.
Three of the injured are pupils at Nirvana Secondary and MH Joosub Secondary schools.
Adams was treated and discharged from hospital while one of the passengers remains in the Intensive Care Unit in a stable condition.
Many are arguing the fact that if the street had streetlights, the tragedy might have been avoided.
A cross has since been erected on the piece of land at which the accident occurred. Fadhil’s funeral was held on Wednesday, April 19. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.
