Police have confirmed that a 47-year-old teacher accused of sexually harassing a 14-year-old pupil at a Lenasia South high school has been arrested.
The arrest of the teacher follows claims by her mother that the educator, who doesn’t teach her daughter, had been making sexual advances on the teen since February last year.

Following an investigation by the Department of Education it was considered that the teacher be placed under temporary suspension.
Lenasia South SAPS spokesperson, Seargeant Kalipha Mvula said the teacher was apprehended at his home this morning.
“The suspect has been charged with sexual assault. The arrest of the suspect follows the allegation that the suspect sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl and a case docket was open for investigations to be conducted.”

Mvula said the suspect is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrates Court on Monday.
