Irate community members stoned and stabbed a man suspected of murder. The incident occurred on January 31, at Kerk and Goud Street in the Johannesburg CBD. It is alleged the victim, who wore traditional (muti) belts on his arm, shot and killed a member of the community and boasted his confidence to commit the crime emanated from those belts.
Captain Xoli Mbele pleaded with the community to desist from taking the law into their own hands. He further asked residents to report crimes and allow the police to do their work.
“A case of murder and attempted murder have been opened and investigations are continuing,” he said.
