On Tuesday, November 29, Lebohang Patric Phoofolo, aged 25, was gunned down at the Lawley informal settlement in what is believed to be taxi violence.
“At about 7am Phoofolo ran onto the R554 main road, and headed into the informal settlement in an attempt to escape from a hail of bullets,” said a source.
According to a witness, as Phoofolo fell to the ground, the suspect(s) continued firing shots at him.
The deceased was one of the taxi drivers for the Lawley Taxi Association and resided in the Lawley informal settlement.
The deceased is believed to be a Lesotho national.
A day prior to Phoofolo’s murder, another taxi driver was also shot at the Lawley informal settlement. Phoofolo’s death follows a chain of shootings in the Lawley Taxi Association.
A hit list was also revealed. It is now believed the matter has escalated to revenge killings in the Association.
