On Monday, June 20, at about 11pm, a 19-year-old from the Thembelihle informal settlement was abducted and raped while she was on her way to her boyfriend’s house in the area.
According to Hector Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS, the perpetrator, who had been following her, grabbed and strangled her before pulling her to his friend’s room. However, the victim, managed to escape when there was a knock on the door and the suspect went to see who it was.
She fled and headed to the police station to report the matter.
Police later arrested a 20-year-old suspect in connection with the incident.
