Four women appeared at the Lenasia Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 25, after they were caught stealing groceries from Madiba Primary in Lenasia South Extension 2. The groceries were for a feeding scheme.
“The scheme was established to feed the children at the school. The women were arrested on Friday, May 13,” said Sergeant Khalipa Mvula of the Lenasia SAPS.
According to Mvula, the suspects, 26 and 49 years of age, were caught red-handed by the headmaster. Stolen items included milk, fruits and tinned food.
It is said the principal wanted to resolve the situation. However, the districts offices opted to open a case against the women.
Police are investigating a case of theft.
