Four armed men broke into a house on Lenasia Extension 3’s Orleander Street on May 19, and made off with a cellphone and tablet.
According to a member of the CPF, the owner of the house went to a shop in the area and left the gate open.
The suspects entered the yard, broke the lock on the burglar gate leading to the back of the yard and made their way into the house.
“At about 10.45am, the two domestic workers were continuing with their daily duties when they were approached by the suspects demanding money, jewellery and safe,” said Captain Hector Netshivhodza of the Lenasia SAPS.
Both the victims, aged 26 and 36, were bound with cello tape and taken to the main bedroom.
The suspects ransacked two bedrooms before they were disturbed by the patrollers.
According to a member of the CPF, one of the neighbours noticed the suspects entering the house and notified the patrollers.
“The patrollers responded and headed to the house. When the suspects heard the patrollers, they fled the scene on foot,” said the member.
“No arrests have been made thus far and we are investigating a case of house robbery,” added Netshivhodza.
