The three arrested for the murder of Jaishika Amtha are due to appear in court today, Thursday, April 28.
The three, two women and a man aged between 25 and 49, were nabbed in Alberton.
“On Monday, April 25, Lenasia SAPS together with Durban detectives, through investigation, were able to arrest the suspects,” said Captain Hector Netshivhodza.
On March 17, the 23-year-old Pharmacy Student was found blindfolded on her bed, with her hands bound at the back and her mouth covered with cello tape at her Lenasia Extension 3 Nasturtium Avenue home.
“She was the only child and had also begun studying for her Master’s Degree this year,” said a friend.
According to police, the deceased’s mother had returned home around 4pm to find her daughters lifeless body.
She had also sustained two bullet wounds to the head and was declared dead on the scene.
There was no sign of forced entry and only the TV which was in her room and her father’s firearm was missing.
