At around 10.30pm on Thursday, April 7, a man was hijacked along the N12 next to Eldorado Park while changing a tyre. According to reports, the tyre burst after his vehicle hit a rock along the highway.

“He was found walking along the highway with one shoe.  He was treated and taken to Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital,” said a reliable source. Tracker was activated and the silver Toyota Quest was recovered at around 11:52 pm in Eldorado Park.

The incident occurred a month after the Lenasia Block Watch and Two-Way Radio initiated a clean-up to remove all rocks, boulders and debris placed on the road to stop motorists. “Cars are being damaged, motorists are being hijacked and robbed after being forcibly stopped by rocks being placed on the N12 West & N12 East outside Lenasia,” Khalil Mohamed previously told the Rising Sun. However, the initiative seemed futile as the perpetrators continue to place the rocks and debris on the road.

According to police, from the N12 bridge next to Nancefield informal settlement and Eldorado Park, pass the Abubaker Asvat Driver, to the corner of Moroka Bypass and K558, next to Protea Glen, is a hot spot for truck and vehicle hijackings and robberies.
