Lenasia South SAPS have declared the Finetown and Migson Manor intersection and Orange Farm stretch of roads, along the Golden Highway a hotspot.
According to Sergeant Khalipa Mvula of the Lenasia South SAPS, three incidents had occurred in the area where the same modus operandi was used. The first incident occurred on Saturday, February 27, when a woman was dropped off by a taxi at the intersection.
“The woman and her husband, who came to fetch her, were accosted by two men, one of whom was armed.
“The men robbed the couple of their cell phones and took turns to rape the wife with the husband held at gun point. After the rape the suspects ordered the husband to have sex with his wife. When he refused they assaulted him,” said Sergeant Mvula.
The second incident unfolded when a woman, travelling on the notorious stretch of road with her daughter, stopped their vehicle on the side of the road in order to grab glasses from the boot.
Three men accosted the pair, held them up and raped the daughter, also at gun point.
The trio fled with the victims’ cell phones and tablets.
In the third incident three adults and a child were travelling in a vehicle, from Everton, when the child needed to urinate.
“The driver halted the vehicle on the side of the road and the child got off to urinate,” added Mvula.
Two men approached the victims and demanded valuables. One of the victims was shot and rushed to hospital.
Sergeant Mvula added that incidents occur between 8pm and 10.45pm.
Although police vehicles are patrolling the area, Lenasia South SAPS urges residents and commuters travelling in the area to be vigilant.
